Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Foundations Course
This course is conducted in a 'flipped classroom' adult learning configuration virtually and online over 10 days in and provides USSOCOM, TSOC, and component staff members who are new to the countering weapons of mass destruction (CWMD) environment an overview of USSOCOM’s roles in CWMD and recent Unified Command Plan (UCP) change; an understanding of weapons of mass destruction proliferation, nonproliferation, and counter proliferation; a review of DoD CWMD strategy and programs, and a discussion on CWMD and the interagency. This virtual version requires students to commit 5-8 hours per week for online, adult-learning at their own pace with several required online live collaboration event per week.
SOCOM and TSOC Staffs and SOF/SOF Enablers assigned to positions that interact with CWMD mission partners, and require a baseline education/knowledge on the SOF CWMD mission.
Students will gain access to the JSOU Blackboard SOS 3850-V content 7 days prior to Day 1 of this course for read-ahead. During the 10-day period, students will use Blackboard for access to all course content as well as frequent interaction with students and CWMD facilitators. Students will use collaboration software online to engage in team live events (virtual, distance) and present their progress weekly over audio/video conference call engagement sessions. A hard copy of the SOS 3850 student guide will be mailed to all registered students in time for Day 1 of this online course.
